Burnt Shells

Today all I want is to float away,
             from stares

real or imaginary, they burn all the same.
             hearts weren't meant to know
that friendly fire is far deadlier than hostile can ever be.

Today all I want is to ignore,
               truth

               that whispers that fear
               turns into grief
                       and grief
               to an empty shell.

Today is a day to turn an ear,
                 to voices

that say hearts must be ready for pain
                because burnt out shell crumble
                and that emptiness begets emptiness
and fear begets sterility of mind.

                so

Today is a day to tie down myself,
                  and quiet the anxious mind.

The Dreamer

Joshua has always been a clever, creative child,
But today he discovers something crazy and wild.
One moment in his room,
And before he knew it he was on top of the world.
He looked deep into the valley; he saw a beautiful, glistening, river flow, and he saw violet tulips’ beginning to grow.
Joshua has always been imaginative, and smart,
But today he discovers what lies at the heart.
What lies in the heart of the earth?
Joshua unravels the secret,
But if he tells, will he regret?
God opens the light through the slits of the clouds and says to Joshua:
“The heart of the world lies within you and the rest.”
What does this mean? Is God putting him to the test?
Joshua stands on the mountain, looking into the heavens.
Curiosity rips at Joshua, like a river below, ripping through stone.
What could he do?
Surely, he couldn’t find the heart of the world on his own.
Joshua knew he couldn’t discover this alone.
“The heart of the world lies within you and the rest.”
Joshua repeated the line.
The pink, sweet light danced on his face.
“This place is so pure; this is the heart I’m sure.”
Joshua tried to sound convincing.
“The rest” could “rest” mean the rest of the people on earth?
Did the heart of the world lie in the hands of Joshua and the rest?
The wind whispered soft in his ear.
So soft, he strained to hear.
“The world’s love relies on all of you.”
With that Joshua snapped from his dream,
In his room it seemed.
Joshua’s imagination and wonder took him to faraway place above.
Everyone on earth has effect on the world’s love.
It depends on what we do, to keep the world’s love, pure and free.
Like a dove flying through the trees.
Peace. The world may be at peace,

For thy people shall live in peace.
